Robespierriste Hippies

For I have decided the Robespierristes should have been hippies.

Situation: Alternate messidor, an II. As we all (are supposed to) know, Robespierre managed to get a burnout when it was clearly not the time: "Vous sauverez la patrie sans moi!". In this alternate messidor, the Robespierristes decide to join in a strike for Virtue, i.e. la Vertu est en grève, i.e. they move to the parisian banlieue to found a hippie commune (though they don't know that's how it's called): the Rousseauiste Farm of the Happiness of Lacedaemon (Sparta), also known as the Republic of Virtue & Friendship (as you can read on the sign -- also, take a look at my pathetic attempt at 18th century calligraphy -_-; ).

This drawing represents Hanriot (standing, and very confused) who has been sent to bring them back, since the Comité de sûreté générale is taking over. However, he clearly disturbs the cuddly happiness of Robespierre, Saint-Just, Éléonore Duplay and, also, Brount (yes, that sleeping creature is supposed to be a dog and it's supposed to be Brount -- I fail).

There could be a sequel to this drawing -- so you can see what a Spartan-influenced Robespierriste hippy commune should look like -- if I find inspiration and time.



P.S. The psychedelic butterflies, flowers and other random colours are intentional. If I had any time, I would colour the whole thing.

Note that Maxime is obviously reading Rousseau to his sleeping friends. Which book of Rousseau, well, I didn't figure out yet -- so you can choose the one you want.

Also, yes, the dog has a tricolour ribbon. -_-;
